The electricity generated by the two plants is enough to serve more than 178,000 homes in California during the peak hours of the day. The complex will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than 17 million tons over its 30 year life cycle. Preliminary economic studies of the Hidden Hills SEGS project indicate that it will create more than 1,000 construction jobs at the peak of construction and approximately 120 operations and maintenance jobs. Construction wages are expected to reach nearly $160 million, with total employee earnings estimated at nearly $550 million. The project will also generate over $300 million in local and state tax revenues. Hidden Hills SEGS is expected to be complete and producing electricity in 2015.
